Re: Carole Nash

Yesterday got my renewal notice in from CN, I called to ask a few insignificant questions, no immediate answer available so I said I would call today to give the Op time to source an answer. Called today and guess what no answer, the guy Mohamed ? had not did as he said he would. Anyway decided to c...

Re: KTM 640 Adventure owners past & present

I have my 640 Adv from Xmas 2007, done circa 37k miles and has been dependable, robust and easy to maintain. It has a soul, unlike my new Honda AT CRF1000. I'm glad I kept it, fitted factory Ti headers and Akra slip on, always nice to see the blue. May not be the fastest, but it goes without a convo...

Re: is KTM 690 ENDURO R a reliable bike?

I have owned 2, both had the RR Adv conversions and were used for riding mostly in Morocco. They are reliable, only one recurring issue and that was the rocker bearings. On the first bike is was a total breakdown and recovery, the second was spotted at a service before it became an issue. Otherwise ...

Re: Advice on a lightweight adventure bike

I have both 640 Adv and a RR 690 R Adv, I like my 640 a lot. Several trips to Morocco and around Eu, all from the NW of Scotland. Sure it is a bit vibey, but its not oppressive, build quality is very good, strong bike which will take a lot of hammering, light and powerful enough for all the overland...

Re: Dakar 2015 Talk....

Well I hope this year's race is more competitive producing a real challenge by other manufacturers for KTM, after all their trumpeting HRC were a damp squib and others from the East didn't really make up a serious challenge. If young Sam's exuberance can be controlled, he may win more than one stage...

Re: Michael Schumacher skiing crash: did helmet camera cause head injuries?

Hi Roadtrekker,

If the impact was directly onto the camera then the area onto which the camera was attached whether bolted or by sticky pad will receive a very sharp direct blow, possibly causing a fracture or disintegration. I foresee insurance coys rejecting claims if a camera is involved.

Re: KTM 700 ADV

Yes it does look very similar to the RR 690 R, although I'd say the RR bike looks a lot more pleasing to the eye. To own a bike of this genre you need to have a purpose. KTM have driven a few of us to acquiring a RR Adv after they failed to replace the unbeatable 640 Adv, rough it might have been, b...

Re: Campsites in Scotland

I live and ride in the NW, there are numerous camp sites from Applecross northwards, Ullapool etc, however have you considered wild camping, no shortage of sites, just ensure you collect your victuals before heading off into the cuds.

Re: Upgrade or downgrade ? Ktm 950 adventure - ktm 690 enduro

I wish I was. I just found RR easy to work with; spent considerable money so fast, but the result was v good.
