Re: Best touring bike up to 3k

Having had both the XL700 and the Vara I agree with 'Transeuro' the Vara is wonderfully comfortable for long distance. Even with the standard screen, eats motorways. Very little windblast & with a touring screen you could take your shirt off. I'm 6ft and had to take the touring screen off as its...

Re: Best touring bike up to 3k

+1 for the Varadero but very top heavy and you will drop it fully loaded unless you have thighs like Arnie or are very careful as to where you stop it. Killed mine last year(and nearly myself), same as you I'm looking for a new mount. Have narrowed it down to a CBF1000 which a mate owns and I know t...

Re: Heide,Heide now (K60s)

Thanks for the advice Guys, looks like K60's are cheaper as well, so they are top of the list. If I read the thread correctly I shouldn't have the issue with the central banding as the size of tyre for my wheels come ' band free'. ;)

Re: Heide,Heide now (K60s)

Cheers Rick, will look at Mitas and K60's. Will let my mate give me a verdict on his K60's first.

Re: Heide,Heide now (K60s)

I have read the thread but just wondered what the best compromise was. I appreciate Tourances are for dry trails only (Not quite road tyres :) ) However the Mitas tyres you prefer probably won't give much in the way of longevity. Will be doing mostly road riding.

Re: Heide,Heide now (K60s)

I need to change to dual sport on my XL700 shortly, I was thinking of going for the old tried and tested Metz Tourances. have some trails in Mid Wales planned for April during the 'Taffy Dakar', nothing technical I'm sure. My mate has K60's on his KTM 990Adv but still hasn't had the opp to use them ...

Re: ABR Midlands Rally 2012. 17th - 19th Aug

Hi Alun

Myself and AndyH will not be able to attend, he can't get away from work and I can't get away from the wife...... :pinch: and one of my offspring paying an unnanounced visit  this weekend. Hope to try and make the cold one on Exmoor later in the year.
