Glad to hear the OP is unhurt. Some time ago I was led to believe that a certain amount of melting is designed in to some textile gear, but to stick to the road and slow the rider down, not to stick to the skin. No idea how true that is though. When deciding what to wear it's also worth considering ...

Another vote for Arromanches and the surprisingly good museum there about the mulberry harbour. There is a municipal campsite in the middle of the town there too which dad and I used as a base for a few days. Excellent amenities as with every municipal site I've camped at in France. Has to be a V twin for me. Just for sheer rortiness when you twist the volume control. that said, the triple currently residing in the garage doesn't sound too shabby. Boxers just look too weird to my eye.
