Re: EU. In or out?

A sweeping generalisation and we're kidding ourselves if we think most who voted, regardless of age or even which online forums they post on, have 'enough understanding of politics to vote' on this decision. The people who do are the professional politicians that we voted into parliament to run the...

We wouldn't be in this situation if we hadn't been lied to 40 years ago.

Re: EU. In or out?

I voted to leave because the way I saw the EU going was to a soviet style totalitarian regime (the constant trickle of legislation going from Westminster to the EU) & feared what happens when it breaks up in the future. A week on & having seen comments from EU politicians about getting more ...

Re: EU. In or out?

They wouldn't be calling for a 2nd Referendum if the result had gone the way they wanted, would they. Utterly ridiculous  . Sort of like wanting a second bite of the cherry. If the situation was reversed would you sign it? Nope. As you said, I'd stand by the original democratic (and fair) ...

Re: EU. In or out?

How long before Corbyn gets ousted? His campaigning was pants and his lack of enthusiasm when debating was notable. He just looked and sounded like he'd rather be banging Diane Abbott again than trying to convince people to stay in the EU, a system he's been criticising for years! He didn't believe...

Re: EU. In or out?

Absolutely, the anti-immigrant stance taken by many politicians either directly or in a more covert way has normalised feelings that many had felt should be suppressed. All the arguments I've seen have been about controlled immigration not anti & your statement about suppression is oppression. ...

Re: EU. In or out?

Additionally, if there are all those countries out there to trade with... why aren't we trading with them now? Really, what's stopping us? We do trade with them but we rely on a one size fits all tariff. I don't think it will make a blind bit of difference. Glad you agree, so why pay the EU politic...

Re: EU. In or out?

When Britain joined the EU, it should have done so completely. At school, I was taught metric but continued to live in an imperial country. Britain should have gone metric in every way, speed, distance, and changed to driving on the right. Britain was lost, it was part of the EU but wasn't European...
