Re: Something like Rok Straps

By the clips. Buy some flat webbing from a climbing shop. Make them up using a sling / water knot.

Re: What has the TRF done for you, this year?

I don't think there's any doubt that the TRF does a lot of good. A huge number of members give their time and skills for free to the benefit of members and others. It's crazy that the directors seem to shoot themselves in the foot from time to time. Sometimes through action, or inaction, which I'm s...

Re: What has the TRF done for you, this year?

I presume all "contractors" become so via some kind of open tendering process. Re: Is the TRF still worth joining?

Ditto.
Go along and see what you think.
I'm not a big group ride or meeting type of person so that aspect doesn't suite me. However, you only need one person who's willing to show you the ropes. I was lucky and found that person. If I can I now try and do the same. Sadly though, not via the TRF.

Re: Mid layer...

If the newspaper isn't your cup of tea I'd have thought any soft shell jacket would do. Reasonably thin, keeps any draughts out, adequate thermal protection. Or maybe just a winter jumper! Quilted jackets rely on trapping air but they'll probably get compressed a bit too much to be effective. I use ...
