Re: Eagles nest Anyone been?

OK, I appear to be in the minority. While I agree the views are stunning on a clear day it is a bus ride up and you need to book your ride down when you arrive or risk a long wait. It is an ugly building which is just a restaurant. The original Lift is impressive but that is about it. As for history...

Re: The Grossglockner and Nockalmsstrasse.

As of today it is still closed to motorcycles. The weather next week looks good so fingers crossed, it will be fully opened.

Keep up to date with the road conditions here: https://www.grossglockner.at/gg/en/gros ... ssglockner

Re: The Grossglockner and Nockalmsstrasse.

Stelvio, Timmelsjoch etc are usually the end of the month at the earliest. We have been getting heavy spring snow so it may be later this year.

The Grossglockner and Nockalmsstrasse.

Any Early Birds to The Alps? Heavy late snow delayed the opening of The Grossglockner from the scheduled 29.04.2017 but today it opens - unfortunately only for 4 wheels and a requirement to have snow chains. Hopefully the next few mild days will open it up fully. https://edelweissspitze.panomax.com?...

Re: Blown away the cobwebs

Ordinary roads and unless otherwise stated are 100 kph but it's flexible as long as you aren't being stupid.

Posted limits are another kettle of fish and often enforced. Fines aren't that expensive though ;)
