Re: BMW G310GS in Morocco

I'd sooner go for a Rally as I enjoy easy off-roading. I did a great SW USA dirt tour on the original 250L a few years back but I'd not spend all that money on a new small bike. Consider a used KLX250S for £2-3k. Well under 140kg afaik and proper stock suspension. Had a carb one in the US for a bit....

Re: BMW G310GS in Morocco

Well it's not an agile trail bike but at 6 1, I actually found standing only a slight stoop. Whatever I ride I need risers, but it was the 310's narrow pegs which forced me to sit down after a while. If anything, the bulky tank covers put your weight further back which slows down cornering off road....

Re: BMW G310GS in Morocco

Jak - I thought seat was the lowered option but it's not. That will just be a sheet of tin foil. Comparison with XR is a bit chalk and cheesy, but that will be the small-bike rental choice for my Mk tours. Mink - thanks. Re: CRFs vs 310 - stick with what you got. Thought of that conversion myself bu...

BMW G310GS in Morocco

Just back from the Atlas on brand new G310GSs from the rental company I use for my tours. Bought to replace their brilliant but ageing 2011 XR250 Tornados which they can't get new any more. We took one with: 2km on my GS vs 88,888kms on the XR with nothing left to break or scratch. Long version here...

CRF450L svp

More proof we're all gagging for a modern XR400.

Could not face the thought of going orange/European for that short trip
(though most did without issues).

FS: 2000 XR400 - £2000

Bought last autumn and fitted new wheel bearings and a hard-wearing Mitas E09 knobbly which still has loads left in it. Front is an AC10 and both tyres were Slimed and the rims fitted with self-tappers. No annoying rim locks and no punctures in the desert. Never ridden by me in the UK so bike is cur...

Re: XSR on the NC500

Now in Morocco and doing alright.
Over 80 mpg, taking the pistes in it's stride and of course great on the road.
