Re: Dolomites

Looking for route suggestions to and from the Dolomites. Any must see's and do's on the way would be great. From where might help, if coming down through Germany then using the Hanntenjoch https://www.google.com/maps/place/Hahntennjoch/@47.28515,10.659475,15z/data=!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x479cdd98e406ed39...

Re: Bike Down

The puddle wasn’t huge but it was on car park tarmac so it may have drained in. I’ve put two litres in and will run the engine up incrementally tomorrow, topping it gently until I think it’s good. I'd guess that with at least two litres in then you won't damage the motor by running it for a few min...

Re: Bike Down

A dealer told me the cheapest way to destroy the boxer engine is to overfill it with oil, they about somebody who kept on topping up the oil on their 1200RT till it was at the top of the sight-glass, it destroyed the engine As others have prudently advised, drain the oil and start again, which is ch...

Re: Speedshop

Just watched it on catch up, will watch the other episodes :)

Reckon they were down in the Alps around the same time I was last year, great seeing those views, have the feeling I need to refresh the experience.

Re: Goretex Suit Query

I've see lots of people wearing Rukka and Klim and I'm sure those that do can give me lots of reasons why, but I just can't justify the cost. I've got a vented, laminated Goretex suit with armour and removable liners for the half the price of a Rukka or Klim jacket. I just need to know whether it'l...

Re: Goretex Suit Query

Goretex laminate suit with vents is the best of all worlds IMO. No faffing around getting on / off the bike getting liners in / waterproofs over your other clothing every few minutes when there's showers about. It's cold, close the vents, it's warm open them, warm and wet, close them. When it's very...

Re: France recommendations ?

If doing the tunnel then heading east to the Ardennes area and coming up the coast past Boulogne etc on the way back might be an idea?

Stopped in Boulogne a couple of times, nice little town, and has a very nice restaurant for a final meal in France http://www.chez-jules.fr/

Re: Another marvellous bit of unbiased reporting...

The picture shows a footpath across the fells, and the caption implies it is going to be tarmacced. The story says that the route which is going to be tarmacced is an old railway line which was washed away by rain. And it's a "stock" photo, so may not even be in the Lake District :D I never believe...
