Re: Another marvellous bit of unbiased reporting...

The picture shows a footpath across the fells, and the caption implies it is going to be tarmacced. The story says that the route which is going to be tarmacced is an old railway line which was washed away by rain. And it's a "stock" photo, so may not even be in the Lake District :D I never believe...

Re: Cruise control on a bike - what are our thoughts?

Not had it on a bike, but as said in our camera infested island with some strange speed limits, it's helpful and means less staring at the speedo and more time to look outside. Like all tools it is useful as long as it's used appropriately.

Hopefully you'll get a satisfactory solution, which I'll guess is a bike you have faith in?

Re: Dumb Q time

I tried Maps me and its routing algorithms seemed to be a little strange if you went off its route, whereas on the same phone Here we go is fine. YMMV.

So I'd suggest trying out the options before you go to Norway.

Re: Dumb Q time

Re: Self Guide or Tour Group

I guess it comes down to how far you want to push your comfort zone and whether or not you prefer to ride on your own, or in a group. First couple of European tours I did were organised because friends were going with them. Soon found out that I liked organising trips away, and hated riding in a long...

Re: Oxford Montreal 3.0 Oxford Oversuit

Sounds like a faulty suit, my Montreal 3 jacket and 2 trousers have been waterproof, so far. If I was you, and assuming you've got the cash, then I'd buy the Oxford Mondial laminate jacket and trousers rather than spending it on something that will have limited use.

Re: Ullapool

Can’t help but think all this NW500 hype has not been good for us riders that liked the empty roads up there There was a camper van coming down the belach on the wrong side of the road, and another one doing the same on the coastal route out of Applecross Smoo cave, a wonderful place I was up a cou...

Sorry to hijack post.... do you have to pay to go up the passes?
Some like the Grossglockner and Timmlesjoch, are pay to enjoy, most aren't.
