Optimate do a 12V socket attachment that plugs straight into that socket.

Some good ideas here.
I use a Kaoko one which I got via touratech. Its a throttle lock rather than cruise control just replaces the bar end weight.
I think they are bike specific though so you would need to check it fits your bike.
