Re: England to Turkey trip planning

I've planned out, but not yet ridden, a route from Munich to Istanbul and back. I'd planned 3 weeks for the whole trip. On the way out, I chose to avoid Austria and Hungary as much as possible, going instead through the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria. On the return, I've planned to c...

Event cancelled

Just received notice that this event has been cancelled. That's a real shame. It's not the first cancelled event I'd enetered this season oriented toward big adventure bikes. This leaves me thinking maybe the other people who buy these bikes are not really interested in getting them dirty. I'm writi...

Re: Big Bike Adventure Rally

I'm in.

Am I right in assuming that if you don't have an ACU licence you can just show up and sign a form for a day licence?

Re: What non open faced helmet has the biggest field of vision?

I have a Schuberth J1 that I used to use a lot as my road biking helmet. I was always just a bit uncertain about the protective value of that chin bar, but appreciated the wide field of view. I've since moved over to using an Arai XD both on road and off. I can't say that I really miss wearing the S...

Good wholesome fun. Really enjoyed that, but was disappointed that he turned around. Makes me think I should take the Ducati out more often.

Re: Garmin Montana storage bag

Nice tip on the Kriega bag.

Mine is hard-wired, but I was getting problems with errors from the battery and vibration. I put a folded up business card between the battery and the back cover. No problems since then.

Re: Big Bike Adventure Challenge

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. I'm taking a "run watcha brung" approach to this, so don't plan on doing anything special to the bike aside from... - making sure my on-road use hasn't completely worn out the TKC80s; - removing the massively overbuilt hard luggage and brackets which...

Thanks, everyone. I'm going for it. I've been looking at the website and may also book a training session beforehand.

Re: Trail Riding Tuition

I did a bit of research on this last autumn. Aside from the BMW ORS -- which was a bit pricey, but very much worthwhile -- I don't have any direct experience of any of these, so can't speak to the value. UK i2i Motorcycle Academy BMW Off Road Skills Ady Smith's KTM Off Road Schools Trail Rides Wales...

Big Bike Adventure Challenge

I know next to nothing about rallying, but I'm thinking seriously about taking the first step at this event in September: http://bigbikerallychallenge.co.uk/content/big-bike-adventure-rally I know there are some people here who have had experience with BBRC series and training. So my question is whe...
