This valve clearance thing is a bit of a red herring.
It was a problem with the early crf250x from around 2004/5 when the valve neck stretched due to them being filled with sodium or something to keep the valves cool but this was corrected around 2006 and was no longer the problem.

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan ,great value.

I had my first proper ride on the bike on Sunday (120 miles) sticking to A and B roads and really enjoyed it. The highest speed limit all day was 60mph which the Himalayan can maintain all day long, overtaking anything doing more than 50 takes a bit of planning but instead of riding at licence losin...

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan ,great value.

I took my 'new to me' Himalayan out for the first test ride today. First impression after 100 yards was "wtf ...... where is the power" but after 20 miles it's pinned in 4th through the twisties of a local B road and I'm grinning like a cheshire cat. Going from a V twin 1200 to 411cc single was alwa...

Re: If Only Suzuki Would....?

If you read Mondo Enduro, they set out on that jouney with pretty much no prep or planing. It came as a big surprise to them, for example, to find that chains and sprockets actually needed periodic replacement...and they found out in Siberia! There were no Suzuki dealers in Siberia, but luckily the...

Re: If Only Suzuki Would....?

Royal Enfield are showing Suzuki that there is a market for a re-released dr350 but it may not by financially viable for them to do so. CCM also showed Suzuki the way by actually using suzuki engines in their 404 and 644 but again Suzuki may not have been interested in such a small market. As much a...

Re: Bloody BMW prices

BMW (like many bike and car manufacturers) are ramping up the price of their products so that the vast majority of customers are forced to go down the PCP route, that way we are forced into main dealer servicing.
I suppose us 'homeservicers' are not of interest to BMW.

Re: Moto Morini Granpasso 2008

Beautiful bike with a stonkin engine for relatively little money. The styling is individual but also very 'on trend' too.
Glws.

Re: Bloody BMW prices

So you have to cough up extra money for 2 services you didn't need ...... just so you qualify to give them more money for a piece of paper which effectively ties you into more needless annual services in the future  . Once my gs was out of warranty I serviced it myself, that was 9 years and 3...
