Had the Ortlieb panniers the older tube shaped ones but they now do the new squared off version.
They are very heavy duty & waterproof and cheap compared to a lot of other gear out there.
The only thing is you will need side racks of some description or they will flap about.......

Ortlieb are my choice, 70L on my 990 for touring & two 35L on my 690 strapped to the rear racks for off road.
Had the 35L bags on the 690 under water so you know they are water proof.
Get them on Flea Bay for the right money.....

As Harty said 5 mins to take off but personally I keep mine on as they also carry a tool tube & other bits
If you want the Kreiga stuff also goes well on the racks...

Rally Raid luggage rails & ortlieb dry bags.
Rails are pricy but act to protect the bike & exhaust if it goes over & ortlieb bags are about £35.00 each held on with Rok straps.... Waterproof & bombproof....

Couple of scratches on the 690.As for me just bruses & cracked ribs, but at least i get a few more days off work.......

Needs a descent headlight?? My 12 plate 690r headlight is superb they changed them on the 12 plate...
