Re: Adventure Bikes Everywhere!

Yes, now I remember the lap around Australia but didn’t know the rest. I was out and about in ‘18 as well. My daughter has moved to Oz for two or three years so that’s on my To Do list too. I thought about getting the bike flown to India and then riding down. Myanmar and Indonesia might need hopping...

Re: Adventure Bikes Everywhere!

I get that. I also understand that for some it’s their first trip away on a motorcycle. I didn’t mean just those on the way to an organised event. Over the years I’ve seen so many bikes loaded to the gunwales and I’m always amazed by it. Of course, it could be me and the way I like to travel. On ou...

Re: Satnav vs Mounted Phone

Thanks. I’ve had ‘interesting’ road choices with MapsMe too. Up flights of stairs and footpaths.

MapsMe is also wildly inaccurate on timings. I think it uses the road speed limit x mileage which in wilder countries is sometimes hours out. Mostly accurate and trustworthy though.

Re: Mystery Black BMW Key

Hello mate,

Is it just a sad little plastic key? If it is, it’s like the cheap, get out of an emergency key, that they gave me with my bike. It has no battery but can get you home, no idea how.

Re: Satnav vs Mounted Phone

Gaia GPS, is that a satnav unit or an app?

I’m leaning towards a phone up front with a new chip for different countries.

Hi Spike. My Camino buddies and I did the same in a howling gale with lightning flashing about, then got the hell off that hill!

We all met up in the first day or two and are friends still.

Yes, I know. It seems crazy dangerous now to ride three up with your toddler and all of you helmetless, but you had to be there. It was absolutely normal in my part of Asia back then.
When we had our second child we rode four up most days.
