Re: What would put you off buying a GS1200/1250?
Too big, too heavy, too expensive, too tall, too complex, too ostentatious, too much plastic. I know they are good bikes, but I just don't like them. I like cheap, simple, light enough to lift on my own, feet flat on the floor when I stop, not having to get it serviced at a dealer, no plastic, and n...

Re: MotoFreight
I have just used Motofreight to ship my bike back from Buenos Aires. I also used Dakar Motos in Buenos Aires to arrange things that end. It took 3 hours doing the paperwork in BA, and Motofreight shipped my bike back to my house after clearing it in Heathrow. great service, and much cheaper than the...

Re: Beware lomo shit panniers...
I don’t think that bikenav was suggesting that you qualify how and where yours were used. As reported back in time on here I used a Lomo bag during my Americas trip.....and it was superb come rain, hail, wind, heat, tarmac and dirt. He makes a good point though as to what ‘test’ some gear gets to j...

Re: Beware lomo shit panniers...
From my experience with luggage, using it on a basic road trip is a world away from using it on the rigors of a trail trip so its pointless commenting on your own history unless you put it in to context as to what use you put them to. I used basic oxford panniers for years on the road no problem, t...

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan ,great value.
Thanks for the write up Jon it covers the idiosyncrasies of the Himalayan which most of us owners experience but love. I followed your travels on Facebook and loved the warts and all blog of the twists, turns and dilemmas of the journey whilst dreaming of being out there myself. I presume/hope you ...

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan ,great value.
I have written a review of the Himalayan, along with a list of farkles I did, based on a trip to Argentina and Chile I got back from about 3 weeks ago. Here's a link if anyone wants to read it https://m.facebook.com/notes/jetlag-jon/review-of-royal-enfield-himalayan-bs4/211220683625992/ Sent from my...

Re: Beware lomo shit panniers...
Just seen this thread, and thought I would throw in my two cents worth... I have recently got back from South America, and used Lomo panniers. 10 200 km, more than 2000 of that on dirt, and I had no problems at all with the panniers. As you can see, they were pretty full too. For me, they are great ...

Re: ABR issue 51 Route Files: TomTom Cumbria Discovery Route
Is this all on paved roads? I fancy doing it on my Harley Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk It certainly is, Jon. Definitely doable on a Harley, though some of the roads will be pretty rough (but still tarmacked). I will hopefully be up there in April, will camp a night somewhere Sent from ...
