KTM Napier Trail Expedition
The Trailquest Napier Trail expedition has returned safely after a gruelling expedition to Ethiopia. Covering 1600km of off road mountain trails to reach the fort of Magdala the team used KTM 690 and 500 motorcycles. In addition to the adventure and challenge they also raised money for Help for Hero...

Re:Alternative to Tents
As the one who started this particular discussion some three months ago it has been interesting to see it develop. What has it revealed? Well, everyone has their own way of doing things and are generally happy with their solutions. If it works for you that's great. I happen to think Mark 1961 is abs...

Re:I'm Registered....!!!!
Once you have passed your CBT there are quite a few 125cc bikes to look at. If you can afford it and want a bike that is top quality, easy to ride and has a "big bike" feel look at the Honda 125 Varadero. Expensive new but many good ones available on the used market. Cheaper new, and also ...

Re:Panniers: Useful or a pain in the arse?
As always there is a time and a place for most bits of kit. Having used a variety of combinations over the years I currently have a Touratech aluminium top box and Touratech soft side panniers. The lockable top box provides a little added security whilst the soft panniers are great as they can be ex...

Re:Useful Kit - Cooking and Water Filtration
I agree Sam - those pumps are just so irritating. We had a client who insisted on using one ( a typical case of being "sold" the product in the camping store ) but despite the amount paid for it his broke within a few weeks. We ended up sending him three Pure Hydration products.( www.pureh...

Re:Useful Kit - Cooking and Water Filtration
For water filtration I would refer back to the Pure Hydration system. Coming in bag or water bottle form they are simplicity itself - in line filter so no pumping, no added chemicals and no bad taste. Simply fill from ANY water source and drink!

Re:Alternative to Tents
The hammock is a useful bit of kit when in the jungle and you need to be off the ground when sleeping. Otherwise I would not advise using them. My most recent experience was with a client who insisted on using one on a course we ran in Wales and he hardly slept at all as he was so cold! Sound advise...

Re:'Adventure'...what's yours?
A difficult one this - there is not necessarily a big difference between the two but one could work along the lines that an "expedition" is a journey organised for a specific purpose - scientific, geographical, archaeological, military etc etc and is often totally self supporting in remote...
