Re: Go Big and Ride Small

My C90 is ok for about 250miles in a day, anything much over that is a bit of a mission though. My big tourer, a CRF250 Rally, is ok up to around 400 miles, but 150 to 200 on either is always much more civilised, with time to enjoy the scenery, taste the coffee and eat the cake :D Of to the Dolomite...

Re: Southern softies...?

I'm really very sorry, and not a little tee'd off at having to do this but my little brother has just announced a "royal visit" on the BH weekend' with two of his three children (its complicated) so I'm going to have to bail out for the sake of fragile family unity. When I'm back from my trip which ...

Re: Southern softies...?

Following a quick PM chat, it's been suggested I post a plan. So the plan is to meet at Compton Abbas airfield by the Cafe at 10:00 for 10:30 then have a bimble down to west bay on various backroads of my choosing trying to avoid the worst of the BAnk Holiday traffic. I know a few reasonably interes...

Re: Southern softies...?

I'd be up for that as well, so as no one has actually proposed a date, how about Sunday 25th of August, meeting at Compton Abbas Airfield at 10:00 for 10:30. I'll lead us off to somewhere in Dorset where there is cake, by some decent back roads. I have to ride up from Dartmouth, hence the later star...

The real spirit of adventure

This guy is riding a Puch Maxi from Mongolia to Austria. This is just his latest posting as he passes through Ukraine, but the others are worth look. The real spirit of adventure? When you get up in the morning and don't know whether your mount will get you through the day, I'd say so. I've enjoyed ...

Re: Lake Como anyone...? https://www.lakecomohostel.com/index.php

Thanks for that Bob, a group of four of us are heading there, via the Dolomites, in early September. I'll keep them in mind, as we don't know within a day or so when we'll get there. We are a disparate group, one 1200 GS, two Honda NCX's and one CRF250 Rally (me). Our aim is to travel less than two ...

Re: Adventure bike Rider festival 2019

Can only reflect what others say, a superb event, well organised and no shortage of things to do. Highlight for me was Elsbeth Beard's talk on Saturday night.
Already booked for next year, see you there.

Heading up from South Devon on Friday morning, taking in the Foss way as part of the trip.
Motorways are boring on a CRF250 Rally

Re: Did you buy your bike new or used? Why?

Used, two of them because they're not made any more, being over 30 years old, and my CRF250 Rally as an ex demo as I got £900 off for 400 used miles.

And I'm poor and tighter that tight thing :D
