F800GS headlight reflector advice

Long story short - previous owner fitted a HID headlight and it's screwed the reflector. I've tried cleaning it but the mirroring has just been either burnt away completely, or is so blackened as to be baked on. Having seen the price of a new unit, do I have any options (anyone that can recover bugg...
