Re: Santander, Spain - Accommodation with secure bike parking

Just spent last night in Art Hotel Santander for 50 quid off booking.com. Nicest room/hotel I've stayed in all trip and pretty decent location. They have secure parking beneath and to the side of the hotel. Breakfast a bit pricey at 10 Euros imo but good selection. Just get there early if you want b...

Re: Spruce up spoked wheels

After checking again I now have two spokes on the front that are completely loose. I'm unable to tighten them with the tools I have. They're just spinning around even when trying to grip them with pliers. Perhaps some mole grips would give me good enough grip on the spoke to stop them spinning but I...

Re: Changing tyres

+1 for what JohnnyBravo said. The Motion Pro Bead Pro tools were all I needed to break the bead and switch out a tyre. Pricey but worth it I reckon.

Re: Spruce up spoked wheels

I've only ever touched the ones that have no tone whatsoever i.e. are completely loose/rattling. I've been checking them after every ride because it says to do that in the BMW manual and I've nearly always found a completely loose spoke every time I've checked. So yeah, they might be fucked!

Re: Spruce up spoked wheels

Since fitting the wheels I check and tighten the spokes after every off road session. This morning I had 7 loose spokes across both wheels after the previous day's ride. Most are tight again but I seem to be getting into the realm of nipping up some only to cause others to become off tension. One sp...

Re: Spain Trans-Pyrenees Sept 2017 - Trip Planning and Ride Report

Good idea with the WD40. I used it to help get the tyre on the rim. Will add a small tin to my toolkit too I think. Changes following that exercise: - Remove now broken VISION AIR HAND AND CO2 PUMP WITH PRESSURE GAUGE - Remove CO2 bulbs - Add normal MTB hand pump that I already had - Add compressor ...

Re: Spain Trans-Pyrenees Sept 2017 - Trip Planning and Ride Report

Air from the first bulb seemed to go in but didn't make much difference. Second bulb was leaking everywhere after I pierced it so most escaped before putting it in the tyre with the rest icing up the valve and blocking it. No idea what happened with the third but there were ice crystals growing in t...

Re: Spain Trans-Pyrenees Sept 2017 - Trip Planning and Ride Report

]ust done my first tyre change: R1200GS rear Anakee Wild replacement using the bead pro tool only. 70 minutes and minimal blood on knuckles.. So glad I took the advice on this thread and ordered a compressor. Blew three CO2 bulbs and got absolutely nowhere, hand pump didn't seem to be good enough to...

Re: Spain Trans-Pyrenees Sept 2017 - Trip Planning and Ride Report

Accommodation The list is so short I don't have one. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! I've got this booked for the first night near Zumaia: https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/casa-rural-ekoigoa.en-gb.html I like the look of this place in Ochagavia for perhaps a refreshing night or two: http...

Re: Spain Trans-Pyrenees Sept 2017 - Trip Planning and Ride Report

Route Broadly I’m planning to follow this wikiloc route (https://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=2023577) on the way down but skip out the Andorra section. On the way back I’ll pick up some of the TET heading West to the Picos before heading back to Santander. Beyond that my planned route is ver...
