I have two pinlocks, one tinted and one clear. I also wear glasses. Yes I agree with the fogging if not fitted correctly, but I wouldn't be without them for winter riding.

I'm with Billy, weld some nuts on the ends , let them cool, penetrating oil and they usually come out easily.

wire a temporary earth into the horn to test if it is the earth, could need adjusting if it has and adjusting screw

If you use a split link, lock wire the spring clip on, just a loop around the middle of the link clears the inner links and stops the spring clip flicking off

I made a simple one for the XT, wooden former for the shape and used a hot air paint stripper. As said don't get it too hot.
