Re: Screens - I’m confused.

As you've discovered there are as many solutions/suggestions as there are riders and what works for one rider/helmet combination may well not work for another. I'll make my suggestion : try spacing the screen forward by a couple of cm, you can probably 'bodge' something together with some longer bol...

Re: Bulbs in France

With twin headlights and (OEM) LED brake and rear light assembly I'm unlikely to loose a bulb that needs to be replaced at the roadside so I don't bother. I do throw a couple of spare fuses in with the tools.

Re: Time for some new waterproofs

In all honesty it's just luck whether the ones you choose will last a month or years, I've had expensive ones leak in a few weeks and cheap overtrousers last years. These days I buy cheap commuter overtrousers with full length zips so I can get them on and off with my boots on, If I have to replace ...

Re: Soft panniers/saddle bags - any recommendations?

I've had my eyes on these from the states for a while, just not got round to pulling the trigger yet but they look interesting.

Re: chinese are coming

The Stelvio was in for a MOT on Sat and the dealer had a VOGE 500 sitting in the shop along with a mass of assorted 125's. Had a good poke around and a quick (cheeky) ride around the estate, for just over £5k it was quite tempting. I know everyone complains about poor quality components and fastener...

Re: Chinese bikes?

I've put products into manufacture in China (Electronics) but we employed a, non local, QA Manager who spent 80% of his time at the manufacturing facility to make sure that once everything was up and debugged it stayed that way and didn't drift. It actually worked out quite well and we had no major ...

Re: VX800

I hired one of those when I toured New Zealand (nearly 20 years ago now), remember it as a comfortable, easy to ride, bike that could lift it's skirts and play but needed a fair amount of rider input as the speed increased.
Enjoy it.

Re: Planning a European trip....what’s your method?

I plan locations, good hotels and sometimes restaurant reservations if I believe it will be difficult to get in as a walk up customer (usually only needed for Michelin starred or similar). But I tend to ride somewhere then use it as a base for a few days to explore, had enough of rushing around ever...

Re: Aftermarket LED and HIDs now not allowed?

I've had LED bulbs fitted to the Stelvio for the past 3 years but must admit this year I changed them back to Halogen for the MOT just to avoid putting the tester (who I know) in a difficult position. 5 min both ways avoids a lot of potential pain.

Re: 12v USB power question?

It will draw a little power whenever connected to the battery. Quick play with one here gave me a current drain of about 15mA for a USB charger (12V to USB), with integral LED, when nothing is plugged in. Assuming a fully charged 20Ah battery then it could supply this for 1333 hours (8 weeks) but at...
