Re: Iceland bike choice?. 310 GS v 500X

I have spent most of my adult life searching for perfect bikes for trips off road and that are acceptable on road, comfortable ,light enough to pick up if you drop it and good luggage carrying capability. I have come to no conclusions after spending vast sums of money  Two bikes i can recommend ...

Re: Enfield 650 Adv?

I owned a Royal Enfield Himalayan and it was an amazing bike for the money but with pannier frames and a full tank weighed in at 199kg and 24.5 bhp. The figures do not really tell the whole story as the power delivery was so friendly and the handling off road was much better than i gave it credit fo...

Re: New Honda CRF300 L and CRF300 Rally

I haven,t been on this site for a couple of years and have owned a Royal Enfield Himalayan for about 18 months. Whilst it is a well planted very good handling and capable bike both on the road and off i have to say although the bike carries it,s weight well and has a lowish centre of gravity it does...

Re: This ones got me worried

If i am laying a bike up for winter i run Aspen fuel through it on the last couple of runs and it stores great without degrading, varnishing and absorbing water. It is really expensive but worth doing especially if you have a classic bike or two. Aspen was originally marketed for forestry workers etc...

Re: Snugpak sleeping bags.

I have used Snugpak sleeping bags for years now and i am generally impressed with the quality, durability and most importantly the performance in cold conditions. I find as i get older my tolerance to the cold decreases so warmth is really important to a good nights sleep whilst camping. I also use S...

Re: Oxford HotGrips.....any good..?

I have fitted Oxford heated grips with the 'intelligent' switch but it does not always completely cut off the battery when engine is off. Leaving the bike unused for some weeks and it may flatten the battery so it will not start. I always put a relay to switch the supply off when engine off. Usuall...

Re: The next step....

Thanks for the replies gents, it's a whole new area of technology for me to learn about so all advice and experience is welcome. I moved on from enduro bikes about 8 years ago and now just sold my trials bike which has sat unused in the shed for a similar time. Reality is I hate mud these days but ...

Re: Soft Baggage Comparison 2020

I have the Dirtsack longranger pro that are made in India and i am impressed by the quality and how tough they are. I purchased mine when they were just trying to break into the European market and they were cheaper. I now have a Royal Enfield Himalayan which came with hard panniers so i don,t use t...

Re: viewranger

Does anyone use viewranger for navigation out on the lanes? If so what are you using it on? any advice would be a great help. Yep, best thing I ever used to help me get lost. I still use a very early version of the VR app, as the newer versions are too busy with trying you to share routes and...
