Re: is KTM 690 ENDURO R a reliable bike?

Its a long thread with good points, so everyone, which bike do you recommend (and buy before any mods?

I'd start a poll but am not sure how.

Re: Africa Twin vs F800GS

I had better say that this image was from a Salisbury Plain ride rather than the Peak District ride mentioned above - both were fantastic days :-) http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz16/rossdean1/BMW%20F800GS/IMG_0188.jpg On the same trip, good bits ... http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz16/rossd...

Re: Africa Twin vs F800GS

I think Robson is obsessed with reliability and gets hung up on negative internet comments. Which means he buys "Safe" bikes that prove to be unrewarding and dull. What a shame  yes, in the middle of sahara I want safe bike. Name a safe standard (no mods) commercially available adv...

Re: Africa Twin vs F800GS

I rode a few backroads around the peaks with you Ross a few years ago. I think seeing your burnt orange f800 made me buy one. Thought it looked awesome It was a good day out! This image is from a Cotswold ride but the spirit was the same :-) http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz16/rossdean1/BMW%20F...

Re: Africa Twin vs F800GS

Actually I currently own the machine below on the left - my partners is on the right - we are road only at the moment. I would like to buy a second-hand F800GS before too long (funds allowing ... business picking up ... the usual). I did have a KTM 990 Adventure for a while which was better off-road...

Africa Twin vs F800GS

I am a big fan of the BMW F800GS having owned two and used them on and off road with and without full luggage. Has anyone owned both the new Africa Twin and the F800GS and can provide thoughts on a comparison? To me, on paper, the new Africa Twin offers little more than the beemer other than a garis...

Re: new Africa Twin - perfect adventure bike?

"I am considering to cancel my order , but what else to get ? All the other bikes out there have faults too" Go with your instinct when shopping - it works for food, clothes and most other things so why not bikes? Provided the Honda offers something above the BMW 800s and the KTM 990s why n...

Re: new Africa Twin - perfect adventure bike?

On weight - having been given the chance to ride a 400cc or so (cannot remember the spec - just the ride) off-road KTM once I can only concede that a lighter bike does the business compared to a 1000cc Adventure bike, no matter how authentic its off-road heritage. However, a 800 to 1000c bike design...

Re: new Africa Twin - perfect adventure bike?

How long before the first Honda hater test rides it (or doesnt bother)and decribes it as "having no character".  Funny thing that 'Honda hater' concept. I have only bought European bikes since my return to biking although my first bike was a Suzuki GT250A back in the later ...
