This is nothing to do with the dealer. Honda Japan instructed them not to let me have the bike back
This is Honda making me an offer, and any negotiation will be between Honda and I. I can have the new machine supplied through any dealer I want

Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
Update on my DCT woes. It's now been over 5 weeks that Honda have had my machine My days have been filled with anger and frustration at Honda UK Customer Service who leave me voicemails saying, 'We've an update on your bike' - only for me to find out when I call back that it's a courtesy call to yet...

Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
The demo model AT at Blade in Swindon looks like a bag of nails  . I was genuinely surprised at the condition of it, it looked like a 3 year old bike. (that's not a dig at the AT at all, just an observation). That's strange Scott. I put the very first miles on that bike from out of the crate,...

Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
Update on my DCT: it's been back with Honda now for nearly 5 weeks. Left switchgear replaced, sensor in gearbox replaced. Dealer has test ridden it a couple of times and sent data back to Honda Japan. Last week I thought I was going to it back, but at the 11th hour Japan requested another 24hrs to g...

Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
That was the start of my problems Al, the SET button shortly followed by the down select, and then my DCT related episode at 579 miles

Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
My CRF fixings showed sign of this after literally a few days riding in the wet It's not really good enough. I have a '97 Africa Twin that gets ridden all year round in all weathers, never gets washed or particularly well looked after and yet the build quality seems many many times better than our n...

Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
Ultimately people don't trust things they don't understand. I think I've got a pretty good understanding of how the DCT works. That's why I don't trust it. There are going to be occasions where drive to the rear wheel needs to be cut. In nearly forty years of riding I'd say all my bikes at some tim...

Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
Just to clarify, no fault has yet been found / confirmed with the machine in question. Just my recollection of what happened with the DCT box and the left switchgear replaced and sent away

Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
Well Honda won't let the dealer give me the bike back after a week, which is a sign they are taking it seriously Honda Europe are working with the factory analysing the data collected from the bike, and have given me a CB to use whilst they get to the cause Switchgear has been replaced - that is loo...
