Re: Green lane bike required.

I have a relatively low mileage 1994 reg XR250. OK, currently it is tucked in the back of the garage with a blown fork seal but it is a great tool for the job you are describing. I did pick up an Acerbis tank for it from another gent on here and once I get a day to myself in the garage hope to get ...

Re: For Sale BMW f800 GS

Sorry I'm not looking to buy but I didn't notice where in the country you are - maybe I just missed it, but putting the general area on the ad might help. I'm up in Scotland and for second hand bikes and cars we often end up travelling a fair way to get the right vehicle. Conversely, we've paid a bi...

Re: Eagles nest Anyone been?

I was there last September as part of a tour of that part of Austria and; as others have said; if clear, the views are stunning. We stayed in a nearby town and took the bus in as it was hot. A day off the bike was also welcome. Park the bike for the day and use public transport to get you there - an...

Re: Update 2 KTM 690 Engine Problems, anyone fancy a guess? NOW SORTED

Decco, I have lurked, following this thread with interest. I admire both your patience and reasonableness and hope you have many happy miles of smiles on the replacement steed. Congratulations on showing a calm head can win through and well done to the dealer who seems to have been trying to do the ...

Re: North Coast 500

Good points made on driving etiquette... think tall and wide and pretend you are on a BMW GSA even if on a scooter and you'll get along better. The locals are pretty good but getting fed up being held up by touring camper vans who don't understand they should let faster traffic from behind pass them...

Re: North Coast 500

I did it anti-clockwise in 2011 before it became the NC500, and then clockwise last year with my son as a pillion. There are pros and cons to each direction - it's different views but if you have never been this far North in Scotland before, my advice is look out for a weather window and use those d...

Re: why not try scotland...voted no2 world best destination

If you are planning to ride the west coast and the forecast is for days of rain just head to the north east instead. The weather is often the opposite east/west due tothe Cairngorms dividing the country. The scenery might not be as impressive but there are plenty of relatively quiet, good roads to ri...

Re: why not try scotland...voted no2 world best destination

Rats, dang and blast it all. I've been in Scotland for 27 years but it seems the cat is well and truly out of the bag now. I could try and claim "Move along now, there's nothing to see here ... you'll just get wet, cold and miserable ... or eaten alive by the dreaded midge" (I'm sure it's ...

Re: DRZ Travel

I think I followed that fella's trip on Face-ache! It was a good trip although he spent a surprising amount of time spannering on his co-travellers machine. Nice job on the DRZ! (thumbs)
