Sjaak Lucassen's R1 had 220 000kms on it when I have a peak a couple of years ago.
Original engine and it has been underwater on many an occasion!

Re: Looking for Diabetic Adventure Bikers!
I have been a type 1 diabetic for the past 28 years and been bike travelling for the majority of that. Your project sounds good and would be welcomed by some who were concerned by insulin getting warm. However, despite what it says on the information leaflets, modern insulins keep very well even out...
Re: Yam T7
seat height 950mm? were not all Jaws from Moonraker you know! Interesting to see how the new Yam pans out. Yam have always put a big price tag on their adventure bikes, which is a shame. I'd of liked to have seen a really lightweight frame on the 660 engine. losing 20kg of the Tenere concept would h...

Re: Things to see, roads to travel in Balkans, suggestions please.
Jajce NW of Sarajevo is a lovely place. there is a great hotel in centre of town about £20 a night for very good quality when I was there 4 years ago. all around there are brilliant tracks and tarmac roads through the mountains and hills. Secenry is fantastic and people are really welcoming. Lots of...

Re: Shocking problem...
Hi Steve, some bikes seem to fit shocks which can easily be re-built. others like my Peg, don't. The only option for us was a new unit from aprilia at a bit of a cost... Last year, one of the chaps off the Aprilia forum took his to Hagon, where they made an new one for him for about 2/3 the price of...

Re: OS Map question
Agreed. Symbols like this mark stuff like Pennine Way, popular marked routes, usually pedestrian, sometimes bridleway, sometimes BOAT, sometimes even paved road. Not likely a route to make you popular riding your bike from start to finish on though!

Re: Slime tubeless sealant
used goop in tubed bike tyres. no punctures in 5 year of use and over 30000miles of on/off road. used it in a tubeless transit van doing tree surgery/ forestry work where punctures were depressingly common. No punctures after starting to use it. It won't sort the really weird side wall slits etc but...

Re: GPS QUESTION, WHAT TO BUY
I've never tried to load an OS map onto the 340. Again remember I am not massively tech savey. I've always worked with OSM maps. Once you have run out of displayed roads you can enter way points and navigate like that. Its fairly long winded and unless you do it regularly a bit clunky on basecamp, b...
