The article did suffer from a narrow focus. That said, the effectiveness of training is more subjective than anything it mentioned. Sounds like you had a great time, but personally I'd get grouchy at speed if I had to put up with instruction.

That XR is a gorgeous example, but keep in mind it's kickstart-only. Could be a PITA when you're still getting the hang of balance/biting point. I'm not sure what your aims are on road and off.
