Re: Loch Ness to Glasgow. Wade's roads

I have a route plotted and I've decided that whatever time I get to John O' Groats I won;t stick around but head towards inverness which should allow me a few more hours the next day to enjoy a leisurely ride to Central Glasgow.

I'll be passing loch ness on the less travelled side then ...

Cheers - I'll chime back in once I've plotted a route. Hopefully won't land in Glasgow after dark (thumbs)

Re: Loch Ness to Glasgow. Wade's roads

Wowsers

Quite a few options there - the road less travelled is my preference and the less well maintained tarmack the better.

I'll have to spend a bit of time looking over this.

Home is Bristol. I'll probably stop in Glasgow and visit a friend the Saturday but would like to be home by ...

Re: Loch Ness to Glasgow. Wade's roads

Looking into it it seems a fair amount of it is impassible after flooding and the landowner near the Corrieyairack pass is a tool and put a gate up anyway.

Looks like I'll be covering very little of it. In which case I'll take advice on any scenic routes to Glasgow from Loch ness. Short route I ...

Loch Ness to Glasgow. Wade's roads

I'm doing a LEJOG run for charity at the end of the month. That's all planned etc but I want the return to be a little more interesting.

From Loch Ness to Glasgow it looks like for some part I can follow Wade's roads for a bit.

Anyone else followed them? How ridable are they and that route ...

Re: John o' Groats

I love that this stuff goes on - Just wish I was able to find these things easier.

I think I'll do the Taffy Dakar next year - didn't even know it existed until a forum memeber mentioned it.

Re: John o' Groats

Think I'll hit the A9 then A82 (Gotta see if I can spot Nessie!!!) then follow it to Glasgow.

From there I'll be happy to take suggestions to a good entry point to England but may just motor it from that point.
