Re: First time going to Vietnam, looking for some advice

I'm going in September this year, 3 nights in Hanoi, a 2 week North to South trip with Flamingo Travel, then 2 nights in Saigon to finish off. Looking forwards to it, I'm more interested in the food options than anything else. Have a look on YouTube for Best Ever Food Review Show, there's got to be ...

Re: Calibration on torque wrench ????? How often

I bought a digital torque adapter and used this to test how accurate my Norbar and Lidl mechanical torque wrenches were. All within spec, but if not the Norbar ones can be adjusted with an allen key. Not sure about the Lidl one but it came with a certificate of calibration so could have returned it ...

Re: Snow Chains v Auto Socks

Work vans are provided with Autosocks, I personally haven't had to use them yet but a colleague who lives in Whitby has gone through loads of them as they shred very easily if not just kept to snow covered roads. I am an advocate for the councils not gritting roads and putting the onus on drivers to...

Re: Dash cam advice please

Certainly, but £100+ for an 8Gb SLC micro SD card is a bit steep compared to around £50 for a 64Gb MLC one. If you want to record a days worth of riding for example, you're looking at a 64Gb card. Normal (cheap) SD cards are TLC type memory with between 3 & 5 thousand write cycles, move to an MLC ty...

Re: Dash cam advice please

Look into getting an MLC type memory card for your dashcam's, normal memory can reach end of life very quickly when used in this type of equipment causing it to stop working for no apparent reason.
Try the Lexar or Transcend Endurance ranges.

Re: Pacsafe size question

Just a word of warning regarding pacsafe stuff. If you get one, do not use the locks that they come with. I bought one of those clear padlocks and lock pick sets you see for sale on various chinese web sites (always fancied being a locksmith) and after mastering the clear padlock I had a go at some ...

Re: European breakdown cover

Whatever you do, don't use SwiftCover Breakdown Insurance. On a recent trip to Iceland we were recommended SwiftCover by the organisers, I think almost everyone bar me had taken out a policy for the two weeks we were there. (I already had Britannia Rescue European cover so I changed the named vehicl...
