Re: RBLR1000 - Do you relish a challenge?

I once did lands end to john o' groats in a day back in 1984. I started from Warwick on the Friday afternoon, rode down to lands end. Left lands end at just after midnight and reached John o' Groats at 3.30 that afternoon. I then turned around and rode back down to Fife and stopped with the in laws....

Re: Chinese bike anyone

As for Italian bikes of years ago, every Ducati that was being tested by magazines use to break down and that was within the last 20 years. Only truly reliable Italian bike was the Moto Guzzi and that was only after they changed to Japanese electrics.

Re: Chinese bike anyone

What I want to know is how do all these bikes survive that you see in these third world type countries. You see them loaded with dad,mum and a couple of kids and a rack full of goods and they are being ridden over dirt roads some of which can barely be called roads. So surely they must be basically ...

Re: Honda Africa Twin or Triumph Tiger 800 XCX?

Well I've tried both bikes and found the Honda a bit bland and soul less. Triumph triple engines are much more engaging to ride. I've also tried the KTM 1050 and that engine has loads more grunt than the Honda. If all the hype is to believed than the Honda would be the better choice if you plan on r...

Re: New ADV bike from SWM

Were on earth did that comment about Harley's rusting come from. Not personal experience surely. I have owned three Harley's in the past and road them all year round in all sorts of weather and if anything seemed to maintain the finish better than a lot of jap bikes. As for bikes built in the east T...

Re: Battery Charging Question???

Shouldn't be any problem. By connecting your charger you are just replicating the feed from your alternator.

Re: Scotland Help / Tips

West coast is superb, but you'll be setting yourself a task if you plan on doing john o groats with just 3 days. Also make sure you cover up when you stop and cover yourself in midge repellent because the little blighters will eat you alive if you don't, even the locals cover up.

Re: Horizons Unlimited . Hay on Wye 16th-19th June

Just signed up for this. I will be going in my motorhome though, I don't do tents these days. Will take my bike on the trailer in case there are any rideouts. Look forward to meeting some of you guys.
