Re: Mefo Super Explorer supplier? Alternative?

UPDATE After placing an order with Pneus-Online, I eventually received a reply to my email inquiring as to whether the NHS information was correct. Their reply contained the following... "We would like to confirm that the tyre is indeed marked NHS and can be used only off-road or for racing pu...

Re: Michelin T63 (rear) alternative?

The 130/80 will fit fine on a DRZ, there isn't a 120 E09 in 18" , another alternative is the Mitas MC23 rockrider which is a 120/90, not great in mud but fine for drier harder conditions. I've found the Rockrider rear (140/18) to be a good all round tyre apart from in that slippy clay type mud...

Re: Michelin T63 (rear) alternative?

I too morn the demise of the T63 but the Mitas E-09 is a good copy https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/motorbike-tyres/mitas/e-09/130-80-17-65r-744354 What size have you fitted to what bike? I ask because as mentioned above, I had a 140 delivered and it was HUGE. Way too big for a DRZ. Ideally I'd like to...

Re: Mefo Super Explorer supplier? Alternative?

Worryingly, it denotes the tyre as 'not for highway service' I've never had a problem getting mine through MoT, because while it's not E marked it is speed rated and doesn't have NHS on the sidewall. If they've started putting NHS on the sidewall, that would explain why people aren't stocking them ...

https://www.tirendo.co.uk/heidenau-k60-scout-150-70-r18-70t-r-380359.html Looks pretty much the same...may even come from the same factory. You're right. The 140 looks to be the same pattern but the 150 has a centre ridgeline. Who's tried the 140 on a 990? https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-gb4bmJ...

Re: Mefo Super Explorer supplier? Alternative?

Mitas e07 plus are great .. The tyre I was referring to replacing (T63 thread) in Irkutsk was an EO-7. It was the hardest wearing tyre ever. I bought another when I returned home. It weighted a ton (6.5kg 120-18) and was a bas**** to fit! I find the 990 tyres are easier to fit than the DRZ. Mi...

I had a pair of them delivered to Irkutsk. The front was fine but the rear (140) was ENORMOUS! No way was it going to fit on the rim, nevermind in the swingarm! Ended up fitting a MX tyre.

I'd like to see a 130 or even a 120 in the flesh.

Mefo Super Explorer supplier? Alternative?

It's not my day for tyres... Having tried to order a Michelin T63 for the DRZ, only to learn they've been discontinued, I went to order a Mefo Super Explorer for my 990 only to learn that Gabe at Zen Overland has no stock and is no longer importing them. Does anybody know of an alternative supplier?...
