“I was born alive and well and remain so thanks to the NHS, ” explains Chris (aka ‘Tigger’), “Without Magpas, my wonderful girlfriend and her Mum might very well be dead, having been called out to them for a horrid car crash and fire. But so many people, like those in Africa, aren’t so lucky. Their only contact with healthcare is provided thanks to Riders For Health’s tireless efforts.”
Chris’ chosen route will see him traverse the east cost of Africa aboard his KTM 990 Adventure ‘Sir Humphrey Bikelby’, passing through Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique and Swaziland down to the southern tip of SA. He’ll then jet off to Nepal where he’ll begin the ride back through India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary. Chris plans to depart in late January 2012 and estimates the ride will take six months to complete.
“I’ve dreamed about a grand adventure for half my life and I truly believe that the causes are worth every expense and risk,” he says.
