‘I guess many people, me included, probably see the Nature Rally as a reason to visit places they might not ride to otherwise,’ says Lee. ‘Initially I thought I’d just take in the Wales checkpoints before heading over to Ripley for the Horizons Unlimited bikers’ meet,’ he explains, ‘but the more I talked it over with mates the further I seemed to be going. Before long it was suggested that perhaps it would be best if I just visited all of the places in one trip and be done with it!’
Lee plans to kickoff his epic UK rally adventure on Friday 17 June from Princetown, Dartmoor, before heading north, firstly to Wales, then the Peaks, Dales, Lakes and Hadrian’s Wall. Then it’s off to the Highlands via Dumfries and Galloway before heading over to Aviemore. Dropping back into England, he’ll then head to Lindisfarne and the North Yorkshire Moors before heading to Ripley and the Horizons Unlimited meeting on Friday 24 June, where he plans to hook up with other ABR members for a much-needed beer. Following Ripley on the Sunday, Lee plans to hit Norfolk before turning south to pick up the three remaining checkpoints in London, Sussex and the New Forest – phew!
‘It’s funny how sarcastic suggestions can seem like such a good idea when there are enough empty beer glasses on the table,’ laughs Lee, who’s hoping sponsorship for his Nature Rally-thon will help raise money for Riders For Health.
Lee’s aiming to raise £1 for every mile of his trip – £2,500 if our maths serves us right. To sponsor Lee and show your support, go to www.justgiving.com/leeparsons-naturerally.
