Traditionally held on the Sunday before Easter, the ride regularly attracts thousands of participants and spectators. Last year’s event drew over 10,000 bikers and helped to raise £30,000 for sick children.
The 2011 Egg Run departs from New Brighton Dips at 11.00am and finishes 20 miles later at Clatterbridge Hospital, where riders can hand over an Easter egg that will go to the children’s ward.
There’s no need to sign up in advance, say organisers, just turn up on the day and enjoy the run. There’s also no need to bring an egg; the 2007 event saw over 3,000 eggs make it over the finish line, so a cheque or cash donation to the hospital is just as welcome.
This year’s event is hosting a very special competition in which entrants could win a brand new Harley Davidson 883 Iron and an OSX Aviator leather jacket.
The run is sponsored by Camp Solicitors and GEG Motorcycle Training and has the full support of the local council, the police and Wirral NHS.
