This year’s ride, which departs at sunset on 22 June from South Stack Light House, Holyhead, will see riders cover over 270 non-motorway miles through the night before reaching their destination of Skegness beach at sunrise.

ABR Nick Ward, from Stratford upon Avon, is one of the many bike riders joining the Sunset to Sunrise Tour this weekend. “Nearly every family in the land is, at some point, touched by cancer.  That is the time when Macmillan nurses step forward.  This ride is just giving a bit back,” he says.

The event has grown steadily in popularity since its inauguration in 2009, and in 2011, raised over £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Bikers4macmillan was formed in 2009 by organisers of the very successful ‘Over 40s Ride’, which raised over £20k for charity.
