This year Harley Davidson are bringing the Campfire Tent to the ABR Festival. Have you ever fancied having a chat around a campfire with RTW travellers, motorcycle authors, and the riders you follow on Instagram? Then head over to the Harley Davidson Campfire Tent to swap stories and discuss all things motorcycling and travel.
It’s as informal as you can get. Just pull up a chair and kick back with a drink or feel free to join in the chat.
You’ll be listening to:
A Midlands born rider who took the chance to ride across the world on a 105cc Australian Postal bike and has been stuck telling the same old story ever since! Now runs a tour company for people to embark on their own adventures, big or small
AKA the Missenden Flyer. Just a normal bloke who loves motorbikes, has a camera and a YouTube channel with over 50million views
Ben has spent the past 7 years riding motorcycles around the world; across Asia, Central and South America, North Africa and most recently riding overland from London to China via Iran and Pakistan, and this journey alone took 2 years to complete
Join Lisa Thomas from around the fire pit on the Friday evening while she cooks up and shares out some delicious recipes from her Dirty Dining selection
Charley will be chatting about his recent all-electric adventure on the Long Way Up, his experience with the much anticipated Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 adventure motorcycle, and anything else you care to ask.
girl on a bike Vanessa ruck
A 6.5 year recovery seeing 7 surgeries including 2 reconstructed body parts following a cycling accident, Vanessa discovered motorcycles. Going from cruising and ramping up to trials and now full hard enduro, bikes have swiftly become Vanessa’s favourite form of adventure; the open road, the power, the ability to simply disappear into the unknown and travel the world
Jacqui Furneaux had no plans to see the world on a motorbike.
In 2000 she bought an Enfield motorcycle in India because she’d fallen in love with a Dutchman who asked her to join him on his motorcycle adventures. Thinking this jaunt might last six months, she arrived in the UK with the Enfield seven years and twenty countries later (but not with the Dutchman!)
In 2002 Mick found himself on the start line of his first ever Dakar. It started a love affair with the world’s toughest motorcycle race which saw him back on the start line for the 8th time in Saudi Arabia 2020
In 2018, at the age of 22, Henry Crew embarked on a 52,500-mile journey through 35 countries. On his return he became the youngest person to circumnavigate the world on a motorcycle. During that life-changing trip through blistering deserts, the world's highest roads, and some dubious border crossings, Henry raised over £11,000 for the Movember Foundation to support their work for Men’s Mental Health.
The ABR Garage team will be leaving the comfort of the studio behind for a live show at the ABR Festival 2021. Editor James will be joined by Garage regulars to discuss all things adventure biking, and will no doubt be ridiculed yet again for his undying love of the KTM 790 Adventure. The boys will discuss the pros and cons of the bikes they’ve been test riding lately and provide insights into the making of Adventure Bike Rider magazine.
