For the Brits, it appears that the BMW R1200GS Adventure is currently the weapon of choice to carry you on your adventures.
How do we know this? Because statistics have revealed that the R1200GS Adventure and the R1200GS were the best-selling bikes over 125 cc in the UK in 2016.
For the first time in the UK, the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure outsold the R1200GS with a total of 1,525 UK registrations, compared with 1,462 for the standard model.
With a combined sale of 2,987 registrations, the two BMW models outshined that of the Honda Africa Twin, which finished 2016 as the second highest selling adventure bike.
Overall, the BMW R series had strong sales across all sectors. The BMW R1200RT finished the year as best-selling Tourer, and three other models featured in the top-six best-selling Adventure Sports bikes for the year.
Scott Grimsdall, BMW Motorrad UK National Marketing and PR Manager said: “The R1200GS Adventure and R1200GS have again proven to be a favourite with the British public. The GS is an iconic brand and has always enjoyed strong sales, but the success of the XR, RS, RT and RR is particularly pleasing.’
‘We are constantly developing our bikes and offerings for customers and with a full range of new bikes for 2017, we’re looking forward to another exciting and promising year ahead.’
It’s certainly looking that way, with 15 new and revised models set to be available to customers in 2017. There are two new variants of BMW’s R1200GS, the Rallye and Exclusive, and the Heritage range continues to grow with the addition of the R NineT Urban GS.
