Police launch campaign to tackle distracted drivers
Written by Rob Slade

People speaking on the phone, doing their make-up or generally being distracted while driving pose a risk to all road users, especially to motorcyclists who are much more vulnerable and less easily spotted on the roads.

To combat this worrying trend, West Midlands Police and the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) have launched a campaign to tackle the dangers of distracted driving with the help of a new simulator which they hope will help cut road deaths.

Watch: Chris Birch shows us how a big adventure bike should be ridden off-road
Written by Bryn Davies

If there's just one video you should watch that proves that big, weighty adventure motorcycles can be potent off-road machines, then this is it. It shows Chris Birch, a Kiwi with an impressive talent for commanding all things two wheels, thrashing his KTM 1190 Adventure R along a gnarly forest trail that's full of ruts, knee-deep mud, expansive water crossings and tricky rocky sections.

It starts off with Chris meeting up with two pals, Phil and Bryce, who happen to be Red Bull Romaniacs veterans (basically, they're shit hot at riding off-road), and their KTM 300 EXCs. Given the type of terrain that the trio will be traversing, their machines appear to be a sensible choice, so when Chris rolls his towering KTM 1190 Adventure R out of the van things start to get interesting.

Airbus manufactures 3D printed motorcycle
Written by Bryn Davies

A new player has entered the motorcycle manufacturing game, and it's not who you'd expect. Airbus, the aviation giants which is renowned for making aircraft and military equipment, has begun development of a lightweight, electric motorcycle, and the unique part about it? The frame of it is entirely 3D printed.

The new motorcycle, named the Light Rider, was developed by APWorks, a subsidiary to Airbus Group, to showcase exactly what the company's pioneering Scalmalloy material is capable of.

Watch: New York Police Department crush motorcycles with bulldozer to send message to 'knuckleheads'
Written by Bryn Davies

In an effort to deter the people of New York City from riding dirtbikes on the city's streets, the New York Police Department decided to crush a few hundred confiscated motorcycles and broadcast the event live on Facebook. The demolition was intended to send a 'very strong message to the nitwits and knuckleheads' who ride their dirtbikes around the city, an act which is illegal.

NYPD Commissioner, Bill Bratton, made the promise last month that he would broadcast the bike-smashing live on Facebook as a way to deter those who are considering taking to the streets on their illegal machines.

Watch: The unbelievable moment a pickup truck deliberately swerves into biker
Written by Bryn

We've all experienced car drivers who seem to think that it's unfair that motorcyclists can filter past them in slow moving traffic. I personally have had motorists move over in the lane in an attempt to block my way forward for no reason other than spite. Fortunately, I have never come across anyone like the driver of the pickup truck in the video below.

The clip starts innocently enough, showing slow moving traffic on the 101 freeway in Los Angeles with bikers filtering safely through the lanes. As they pass a pickup truck, the driver seemingly takes offence at being overtaken and veers into their path, knocking one of them off.
