The new app, which is available now on iOS devices and will be available soon on Android, allows users to view the new adventure bike in full 3D through their device's screen as if it was parked right in front of them. Users can then modify the colour of the bike, view a range of accessories and take a look at the full specs of the bike.

An open letter to worried partners - This is why we ride (and why you need to stop worrying)
Written by Miley Stevens
Monday, 25 November 2013 10:14

When I first told my partner that I was going to start riding a motorcycle, it's fair to say that it didn't go down well.

Of course she'd heard countless horror stories of people falling off their bikes, and the thought of sitting at home worrying while I was speeding down busy roads was something that she just couldn't stand the thought of. Furthermore, she couldn't understand why I would feel compelled to put myself in such danger, and to spend so much money for the privilege. What’s the upshot?"

So I thought I'd do my bit for the community and share my monologue with you here. Show this to your worried partners and hopefully it will help them to understand a bit about why you feel the need to ride, because I wish that something like this was available when was in the throes of that debate. You're welcome…

An awesome day out on your bike (that you probably shouldn't tell anyone about)
Written by Leo Mollan
Monday, 18 November 2013 10:31

I've always been of the opinion that you should do the things that make you happy and that you enjoy. It doesn't matter whether they are the 'done thing' or whether they are considered 'normal' - the only question you have to ask yourself, assuming you aren't hurting anyone, is 'do I want to do it?'.

This is why my friend and I recently had a day out on our motorcycles that was just awesome… but technically wasn't and perhaps got us a little teasing from friends. Here's what we got up to, and why I think you should give it a go too…

An off road adventure like no other
Written by Bryn
Friday, 15 November 2013 15:00

Simon and Lisa Thomas have now ridden some 325,000 miles, skidded, fallen and traversed 78 countries on their way to claiming the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous ride by a motorcycle team ever.

It’s an impressive feat by anyone’s standards, but their adventures started in the same place as many of the world’s modern adventure riders, BMW Off Road Skills in South Wales.

Motorcycle helmet manufacturer SHARK has released a new multi-functional helmet that looks perfect for adventure motorcycling.

The new Explore-R helmet, which is set to cost around £320, is a brand new concept for SHARK and it offers both full-face and off-road helmet functionalities. Depending on the terrain and style of your riding, a removable visor, peak and goggles can all be altered to best suit the situation meaning there should be no need to buy more than one lid for different uses. On test: CTEK XS 0.8 Battery Charger
Written by Paul Jennison
Wednesday, 13 November 2013 14:27

It’s getting to that time of year when the mercury hovers either just above or below the freezing mark on the thermometer and cold starts in the morning can begin take a lot of charge out of your bike's battery and if your battery is down on voltage it may be problematic. On the other hand the arrival of cold weather may mean that your machine is put into hibernation and is only going to see the light of day once the winter is behind us. Either way, keeping the battery in a healthy state of readiness is essential.

The tale of Bundu Motorcycle Adventures
Written by Bryn
Friday, 18 October 2013 10:28

It was March 2009. Steve Wilkinson, founding member of Bundu Motorcycle Adventures (MK1), was riding his Yamaha XT600 home from work near Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, where he managed a vineyard. It had been topping 40C that day and the work was very physical and without shade as the harvest approached.

As Steve left the unmade gravel road onto the N2, the main road between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, a group of BMW Adventure Bikers rode past being led by what was obviously a tour guide.  In a flash of inspiration Steve thought “That’s what I want to do!”  When Steve got home, he told his wife of his moment of enlightenment and instead of calling him a bloody fool as, let’s face it, most wives would do, she said “Brilliant idea, let’s do it”.
