7 photos that show New Zealand has some of the best riding on Earth
Written by Rob Slade

New Zealand is an amazing place to explore no matter the type of vehicle, but it's on two wheels that you can really make the most of it. Stick a tent in the panniers, take some time from work and you are in store for one hell of a tour. With a population of only four million people you can expect the roads to be significantly quieter than in the UK.

So they may not be the toughest roads in the world with large sections of dirt and off-road, but then, for a lot of you that is probably going to be OK. What is without doubt though, is that New Zealand offers some of the best riding in the world with some of the most sceneic roads and here are seven photos that prove it.

On the ABR forum last week...
Written by Rob Slade

It's that time again for the ABR forum roundup and as usual there has been plenty of activity taking place online. It's great to see new members popping up as well as a few people who have been taking and passing their bike tests. More riders on the roads can only be a good thing. So what's been happening on the forum over the past week?

Well, there has been a little less controversy compared to past weeks and there have been quite a few people asking for bike and gear advice. So if you're a wizz when it comes to that sort of thing, make sure you head online to help out. We've got questions about first bikes, whether touring in groups is actually worth the hassle and someone has also suggested that the BMW F800GS is the best adventure bike out there! Now that's got to get a lot of you up off your seats! Anyway, here is the best from the ABR forum last week.

5 things you need to know about the Ducati Multistrada 1200
Written by Rob Slade

Ducati Multistrada 1200

With a full makeover for 2015 the Ducati Multistrada 1200 looks like one hefty machine and we were at the launch event in Lanzarote to watch it all unfold. What we found was a fantastic adventure sports bike that is at home both on Alpine roads and long distance tours. In fact, you'll be wishing your weekends were longer so you could go further on this impressive machine.

We managed to test both the standard Multistrada and the Multistrada S and while the standard Ducati is a great bike, we'd opt for the 'S' version given the choice. This is because the Skyhook suspension is simply superb and ultimately, we believe that the higher specced version will create more demand in the second hand market and hold their value better.

So, if you're in the market for an adventure sports bike or you just want to know what it's all about, here are five things you need to know about the Ducati Multistrada 1200.

ABR’s weekend ride: The A339 between Basingstoke and Alton
Written by Rob Slade

It may not be situated in the Scottish Highlands or in the Welsh wilderness but this this 11-mile stretch of the A339 links Basingstoke with Alton and it is a great road for a weekend ride which is why it's so popular with motorcyclists.

There are fun, open and fast sections that are mostly signposted at the national speed limit, though there are also areas with 30mph limits. Several long, sweeping corners are bound to leave you with a grin on your face and you’ll also find sudden changes in elevation and tight bends to offer variety. Be sure to click 'read more' to find out everything you need to know.

Rumours of Kawasaki Versys 250 and Suzuki V-Strom 250 pick up pace
Written by Rob Slade

When the Honda revealed the Africa Twin many people were understandably excited, but there were also those who began to question why manufacturers chased horsepower and technology rather than creating a smaller, simpler machine. Well, with rumours suggesting that a new Kawasaki Versys 250 and Suzuki V-Strom 250 might be on the way, could we be seeing a shift in ideology among manufacturers? Here's what we know.

Video of the week: Crazy water crossing on Ural motorcycle
Written by Rob Slade

Water crossings are a tough adversary for all adventure bike riders and it is something that some are keen to avoid while many love the challenge. It's certainly not an easy task, especially with fast currents and high water levels, both of which are not always immediately apparent.

Well, if you like a good water crossing then you are definitely going to love this video of a group of guys on Ural motorcycles taking on one of the most impressive water crossings we've seen. It is remarkable just how high the water rises, almost engulfing the entire motorcycle and yet the riders keep going. Anyone attempting this must have nerves of steel! Click on the 'read more' button to watch the incredible video.

BMW F800GS Adventure review
Written by Alun Davies

The standard F800GS is a common sight on UK roads but the same can't be said for the newer F800GSA. With a range of modifications designed to turn the GSA into more of an off-road ready machine, is it really worth the extra cash over the standard F800GS? Alun Davies considers the case for buying one.

Written by Rob Slade

New videos of Honda's much anticipated CRF1000L Africa Twin have been released showing two-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez and multiple Dakar stage winner Joan Barreda test driving and discussing the new machine. If that wasn't enough to get you excited, how about the announcement of Australian pricing? And guess what... It's good news.

On the ABR forum last week...
Written by Rob Slade

It’s that time again for a roundup of the best ‒ and in this case, more contentious ‒ threads on the forum. The past week has seen the usual activity including political chat, motorbike discussions, tips and rants. There's certainly plenty for you to join in on.

Should motorcyclists remove their helmets in petrol stations? How many miles is too many for a motorcycle? And of course there's the ever present question about which bike is better. In this case it's between the Triumph Tiger 800Xcx (pictured below) and the BMW F800GS Adventure. Click the 'read more' button below to get in on the action.

Will the Daytona Smartphone Controller revolutionise phone usage on bikes?
Written by Mike Beddows

As we all know, it's against the law to use your mobile phone while riding a motorcycle which is perfectly understandable and acceptable. The issue comes when you are using your phone as a satelite navigation system or you have a hands free headset on but wish to take a call. Well, the Daytona Smartphone Controller has been designed to bridge the gap in these situations. The question is, what does it do and how does it help?
