ABR Pic of the Week winner announced
Written by Bryn

Entries for this week's 'Pic of the Week' are now closed which means it's time to announce the winner! We were sent in some awesome photo's and, as always, choosing a winner proved to be a very difficult task so we sealed the doors of ABR towers and began our Pic of the Week conclave.

After a few hours of deliberation, white smoke drifted from our chimney and we'd decided which pic was best. So, without further ado, we are pleased to announce that this week's winner is...Tony Gill (a.k.a Browndog on the ABR forums) with this fantastic shot which he took on the Stella Alpina earlier this year!

ABR pic of the week winner tony

Congratulations to Tony, the proud new owner of an ABR beanie and two ABR stickers!

As I mentioned, we were sent in some cracking shots this week so click 'Read more' to see this week's runners up.

Givi has announced the launch of the biggest case in its luggage collection.

The new case, called the TRK52N, will be part of Givi's existing Trekker range and at 52 litres it's looking like a very handy piece of kit for long-distance-take-everything-but-the-kitchen-sink ABRs!

Click 'Read more' to find out what TRK52N is all about.

ABR Weekend Weather
Written by Bryn

In the past week we've seen a bit of a change from the sweltering heat and blue skies that were so uncharacteristic of UK summers, thunderstorms have been rolling their way through the country and heavy rain has followed. The temperatures remained fairly hot though and we've still had our fair share of beautiful biking days.

The weekend though, is looking a little grim. The only 'nice' thing going for it is the fact that temperatures will stay fairly warm, hovering around the high teens and low twenties, similar to what we've experienced this past week.

ABR Pic of the Week winner announced
Written by Bryn

Entries for this week's 'Pic of the Week' are now closed and we've been sent in some great shots from ABRs all over the country, which makes picking one winner so difficult.

However, after days and days of careful consideration we can announce that the winner of this week's 'Pic of the Week' competition is (drum-roll please)...Kevin Martin from Surrey with a cool shot of an ABR green laning in the frost, a bit of a contrast to the weather we've had recently!

Congratulations to Kevin, the proud new owner of an ABR beanie and two ABR stickers (make sure you get them on that bike)!

Of course there were some honourable mentions, click 'Read more' to see this week's runners up and to find out how you can enter next week.

Could this be the future of motorcycle helmets?
Written by Bryn
  • New helmet to be produced with internal Heads up Display unit
  • Riding information will be available on your visor
  • Is this the future of motorcycle helmets?

I've just received a very interesting press release from the guys over at REEVU about a new helmet they're planning on bringing out. The EYE1, or Intelligent EYE Helmet, promises to give riders a futuristic Heads up Display (HUD), that will present information such as speed, GPS directions and bike diagnostics, into your visor.

It's an interesting concept and if it works, could it be the future of motorcycle helmets?

ABR Weekend Weather
Written by Bryn

Over the last few weeks you'd be forgiven for thinking that Great Britain had somehow traded weather with Hawaii, the sky has been blue and the temperature has been consistently sitting around the high twenties, a perfect excuse to get out riding.

Will it last though? We've rounded up the weather from around the country for the coming weekend to keep you informed on the riding conditions.

CCM GP450 Adventure First Ride
Written by Nathan

This week we were privileged (us and MCN) to ride the near-production ready version of the CCM GP450 Adventure, a bike with high expectations, not just for the Bolton-based company, but also for those of us who ride bikes; it’s perhaps time we had a decent alternative to the giant adventure bikes of BMW, KTM, Triumph et al. What seems to have been missing for so long is a bike with a decent engine, good fuel range, a comfy seat and a dependable motor that can carry us as far as we want, with minimal fuss, and with some excitement along the way if we choose it.

And this CCM, in identifying what has become something of a gap in the market, might just be on to something. From our base in Stratford upon Avon, we took a drive up to Lake Windermere to meet with the CCM team and spend some time with the bike. A full write-up will feature in issue 18 of Adventure Bike Rider, out next month, but for now, a few thoughts on the key aspects of the bike. Remember: this is still a pre-production model; the finished bike is due October/November.
