I met him at Ripley too. Lovely 'gentleman', in the old, classic sense of the word. His travels and stories are, of course, inspirational, but for me, it's his writing that has the greatest impact. I am constantly reminded of Conrad. Eloquent and precise, vibrant and sure, resonating life. A fellow traveller, perhaps a spiritual incarnation, who chose bikes instead of boats!

Ted Simon, what a man. He is the reason that I started riding again after twenty years, he is also the reason that I am addicted to motorcycle travel, riding, reading or watching, I love it. I came accross his first book by accident, I had been watching Ewan & Charlie and got talking at the local garage. The guy behind the counter asked if I had read Jupiters Travels and lent me a copy. I have since read all three books more than once.
I have a habit of reading a new book to fast, but then read it again after a while and realise how much I missed the first time, even a third time round his books are great. I would love to meet him or better go to one of his talks.

I really enjoyed Jupitors travels and have started on Riding High. Its very detailed though and although really interesting I'm having to really concentrate on reading it.
