I seem to remember this before, and it wasn't for real. Anyone else remember this, and the details ?

I think this was first reported in the Autumn of 2022 and if it's the same story about a 'ban' then there didn't seem to be any factual evidence of it at the time and it was pointed out that there are still small towns and villages in the surrounding area that are connected by roads where people use bikes to travel around, not only tourists, and how on earth would it be policed etc. etc. Hopefully, it is the same story in different words and not a new 'ban'...but who knows? :?

The area in question in the article sounds a lot at 200,000 acres...which is roughly an area of 18 miles x 18 miles in more easily visualised terms...so not actually that big compared to the size of the overall Pyrenees, but any loss is a loss and it's in the high part of the range so would to still be a shame to lose it.

I vaguely recall they were talking about banning bikes in all National Parks about 5 years ago.

It sounds like last year's scare...banning off roading in Italy....we got to in the Italian Alps, expecting the worst...Tourist information gave us detailed maps where to go....it could be lost in translation...as I can't see them banning bikes. The amount of money they bring into the economy etc....
