May sound bizarre - but there are loads of them dotted around Europe as war memorials...

There is even one here in the UK, a Sherman Tank at Torrcross Cornwall; which I believe is a memorial to the American soldiers who drowned when they were attacked by a German U or E boat off the Cornish coast while practising for the Normandy landings.
I understand that the beaches are very similar in nature, which is why they chose it.

Life is one big banana skin, sometimes when we slip we hit our butts on the hard floor of life, and on others it's a feather mattress; the adventure is the free fall in between.
A bad day on the bike is still better than a good day at the office!

Sherman at the Arnhem museum. Excellent place if you're anywhere near - underground bit is well worth the small fee !

WTF is that doing there?
Was out myself, Rothes, Aberlour, Tomintoul, Grantown on Spey, then down to Knockando, over the hill to Dallas then into Elgin.
Agree, roads are very poor, one hump on the Grantown to Knockando route almost had me off the bike! Bike and gear are absolutely filthy! I'll post up pics later.
Well done mate. Good to get out.
