SWMBO 11 months, 2 weeks ago #143102

After years of saying she'd never get on a bike. She watched some of the Horizons Unlimited achievable dream videos and decided to try a free hour via XS in Bradford to see if she liked it.

Big grin on her face when she got off the bike. She's been advised to polish up her balance so we're getting her a push bike this weekend and then she's going to have another go in a few weeks.

After this we went to Alan Jeffries in Bradford and she just hopped onto a 650 GS and took it off the side stand like it was no big deal. I pointed out that she didn't have the confidence to do that before her 40 mins on the bike.
So fingures crossed we'll both be doing that big trip in the next few years.
She's already talking about S.America.

Great stuff! It's a mixed bag when your other half starts riding, though...

  • You end up on ride-outs together at a slower pace, which can be nice.
  • She starts to get ideas about the sort of bike she wants...that aren't always whyta YOU had in mind.
  • She ends up buying a bigger/faster/flashier bike than you...

Enjoy and good luck!

Great stuff. After years of being a pillion my wife has recently bought a Vara 125. She has now passed her CBT, theory test and has her Mod 1 booked in for next week. But she has decided to go for the big bike test so has a lesson booked on a 500 later this week.

Excellent news, the more lady two wheel travellers the better I think.

Good on her,

I've just booked a CBT course for my other half as she thinks it would be cheaper for her to run a small bike than her usual Mitsubishi Shogun 3.2 turbo diesel. I'm still trying to persuade here a proper 125 would be better than a 125 twist and slow.

Excellent...

Treat every situation like a dog..
If you can't hump it or eat it, piss on it and walk away.

Yes, I agree but why doesn't she ever, ever, EVER wash the flippin' bike? It's always 'my turn'...just like changing the toilet roll..

We're hoping she's all sorted and we've got bikes each ready for my birthday next year (June 7th) as I'll be the big four zero and we'd like to spend a week riding to Javea in Spain and then a week at the villa and then a week home again.

I think it'll be ace as she's always been the one thing I've really missed when off on my bike on holiday.

hope he means his wife

hey bonniebird i agree with the sentiments but id rather take my girlfriend as the ex wife hated anything about bikes and anything i did so I decided to be wifeless

The new upgrade ive now got is a vast improvement

traveling with someone to share the fun and who loves to go new places make the experiences even better.

hornet
muddy dirty fun in the sun or rain

I'm negotiating with SWMBO at the moment about getting on two wheels.
We want to find somewhere that offers the 'get on' scheme where you can have a try at riding rather than booking a CBT.
