I think you are getting sidetracked here. The origin of the damage to the tyre is infinitely less serious than the fact that they knowingly fitted a tyre with dangerous damage to a motor vehicle, and showed themselves willing to allow your wife to ride away on it. They have themselves provided you with evidence that they knew about the damage, and that they considered it to be unsafe.

I would e-mail Triumph and your local Trading Standards Office tonight, and follow up with phone calls tomorrow morning.

You're 100% correct and I'm not going to go over there and go postal on them. When I say it'll get messy I mean I'll sort it out in a way that'll be very detrimental to the future dealing of Pure Triumph.]]>

I'm more than happy to accept someone saying they've made a right mess of a job, apologise then put it right because mistakes happen and if Pure Triumph had been reasonable nothing would have been mentioned but they've acted pretty poorly so they need a lesson.

We're lucky because we're neither of us kids and both of us are used to dealing with major problems in our jobs so hammering a dealership staffed by people that know sod all about motorbikes will be easy. I've also got the funds to go legal on their arses rather than have to back off because I can't afford to risk losing so that removes a lot of stress from the whole situation.]]>

I'd happily put money on it that they did the damage when they removed the tyre to fit the new valve and when I get enough technical back up to suggest it was them the brown stuff is going to hit the fan and go everywhere.

I've now seen a copy of the disclaimer they sent and it says on there that the tyre was worn to within 2mm but there's a box that needs ticking if it's damaged and they failed to do that. They also put a comment on there that the rear brake fluid was low so if they were doing a service on it why not just top it up and charge for a bottle of brake fluid?

I'm really looking forward to my face to face discussions with them when I get home ]]>

When it's sorted and you've found out what caused it, it might be sensible to let Triumph know what the dealer is up to, copying in the MD. If sufficient numbers of people complain, then they both might do something.

I stopped using a local dealer as they managed to put on some OEM hand guards and engine cowling which even a quick glance showed weren't on correctly. Couldn't be arsed to complain though as it wasn't a definite safety issue. They have lost any future sales as well as the servicing though.]]>

I was hoping you'd comment on it. The tyre is being changed in Bedford on Friday when she's next working from home and the guys that change it have promised to give her a full report on what the damage is and how they think it was caused. That'll go to Bridgestone and the tyre will follow if they want it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks it's a dangerous tyre and shouldn't have been fitted. She was seriously upset last night because they'd had the loan bike back off her and put it away rather than offering to let her take it home and they'd fit a new tyre today.]]>

Her bike went in for an annual service today and she asked them to change the valve in the rear wheel because it's always lost a small amount of air and needed topping up every couple of weeks so they said it's only got a couple of thousand miles in it so why bother? She told them that she's off to the TT on Saturday so would be happier if they did it and never mind the cost.

When she went back to collect it this evening they handed over the keys to the bike then showed her a photo of the tyre with internal damage on the bead area (I'm not home until Thursday so haven't seen the photo yet), asked her to sign a disclaimer before taking it away and said that if she rode it on the Isle of Man like that she'd got bigger balls than they have!

No phone call to advise her that she needed a new tyre fitting today, no offer to fit a tyre, no explanation for the damage, just sign this so we don't get the blame if you crash and burn.

Do I appear to be unhappy? Too right I am and the tyre will be changed tomorrow then sent to Bridgestone so they can have a look and see if they can fathom out if it's a manufacturing defect that needs investigating or if it's down to poor fitting which means Triumph get a kicking.

I'll be going into Pure Triumph to have an up front and personal discussion with them regarding their responsibilities when it comes to customer safety but right now I'd strongly advise anyone considering buying a bike from them to go elsewhere.

Anyone who suggests I should take this up with Pure Triumph before giving them stick on the internet can stick it where the sun doesn't shine because they're a bunch of clowns with previous bad form that I haven't even got started on.]]>

The RBLRB is the fastest growing Legion Group and has been for some time - having no 'Mother' hall but welcome at all - they tend to gather at whatever Legion hall is local to the event that they are sorting out for the day.

The other day looking on Fb I saw a post from a young lady asking for a pillion ride to the Royal British Legion Rider ride of Memorial in Staffordshire. Seeing that the 6 degrees of separation rule applied as we both strangely had a common friend I offered the lift.
I think it takes a brave person to ride pillion especially with someone who's pictures show him mostly falling off. Luckily Gill hadn't seen them and was made for stronger stuff so a plan was made. A RV with Gill and husband Ian at their place in Peterbourgh on Saturday morning was arranged. Ian was to ride a YBS 125 and Gill and I followed on my (Washed and cleaned for once) Transalp. Ian has a BMW RT but due to illness sadly doesn't ride it anymore. We headed West into wind and rain for a hour and then after a Petrol stop we arrived at Willington near Burton on Trent for Breakfast. Ian's borrowed 125 bimbled along and as I only bimble Gill and I followed his lead. The Sun was out and the sprits high. The Members of the RBLRB, ride a variety of Motorbikes. Gill and Ian are well know within this tight group of bikers who as we gather under the banner of ABR and all things adventurous. I think its fair to say these Men and Women have had a adventure of a different kind. They gathering to remember those who did not return and Mates who have passed away in the distant past or in recent times.................The connection is Military and Motorbikes plus a fry up = So Paradise for a fat git like me.

After taking in a 1000 calories or so the Convoy of Motorbikes left heading for The National Memorial Arboretum. With Flags flying in the Sunshine we rode in C a convoy of Remembrance. A Service was held outside with the "Wall" Memorial setting the back drop. The Arboretum became a place filled with Emotion and on this Sunny day you felt the Souls of those who were lost moving on the breeze. I have never been before and felt a great Kinship as we bowed our heads in memory of those who had made the Ultimate Sacrifice.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them.”

Great products and prices
After sales service and commitment to customer satisfaction outstanding, even coming out to sort a problem at my own house (160mile round trip) was not a problem.]]>
