Myself and my Son both bought second hand bike from Bill Smiths Motors Ltd in Chester last week. I got a secondhand Tiger 800xc and my Son a Daytona 675.
Picked the bikes up on Wednesday and had a day out on the Thursday in N Wales.
On our ride out my son’s bike burst a hose on the cooling system. Dumping it coolant on the road. We weren’t far from the Ponderosa near the Horseshoe Pass, so we limped the bike there.
We tried to fix the hose but couldn’t.
So my Son phoned Bill Smith’s for advice. The staff were, extremely helpful but couldn’t advise on a quick fix to get us home.
Within the hour they sent a van to pick the bike up and take it back to the shop. Me and Dean then rode my bike back. On returning to the shop we were initially told that the hose had to be ordered (none on the shelf) so the bike would not be ready until next week. Now it was 5:35pm in the afternoon and soon, the start of the bank holiday.
My son who is in the Armed Forces had to go back to camp on the Sunday after 2 weeks leave so excepted that he would have to wait for the bike to be fixed and pick it up on his return to Chester in 2 weeks time.
We were about to ride off on my bike when Mark Smith came over and said, ”we have a new bike with the hose you need, so we can swap it over, it will take about an hour”.
All the staff bent over backwards to complete the task and within the hour and we were back on the road again.
We were shown the split hose. The split was on the inside of the hose so would never have been picked up on inspection. It’s just one of those things that happen.
So the staff at Bill Smiths Motors Ltd are our heroes for their diligent after sales service. Thank you for pulling out all the stops.
