TOPIC: Slash on Radio 2.

Slash on Radio 2. 1 year, 1 month ago #126874

Anyone listen to Slash's show on radio 2 the other night? I just caught up with it on iPlayer. Fantastic collection of songs from some of may favourite bands; including a killer live version of Motorheads 'Killed by Death' from 1986. Next weeks one promises to be even better as he said they will be playing Maiden and Metallica. Wish they could get him to replace bloody Steve Wright in the afternoon!!!

Anyway it's worth a listen

As a slight aside, don't you hate it when you hear the intro to Child o Mine on any radio station and they play that stupid short version with all the solos cut out? Rather not listen to it than listen to that version.

Hey buddy love it to. Mr slash is just such a cool guy and plays with such soul and feel

as for cutting songs short any dj who does not play the full version of.....

hotel california
sultans of swing
layla
stairway to heaven
O sweet child
anything by pink floyd

and any other greats

or if the moron talks all over it saying how great it is or some other self important dros about themselves. These djs should be shot and id do it free of charge

Got to say slash's new(ish) solo stuff shows how good he really is also have you seen any footage from his birthday bash

not bad for a guy who couldnt remember anything about the gig the next day

Big thanks for posting the 'mellow' vid of Slash.

I'll be honest and say that ive never been a massive fan of him but that just blew me away, fookin awesome!!!

To play that acoustically is a mark of an incredible guitar player without any doubt IMO.

Agreed mate all those hammer on notes are hard enough on an electric but on an acoustic is awesome, its funny but if you read the comments below this vid on the youtube site it makes me laugh when people who have never even picked up a guitar critisize that he missed a few hammer on's (when a finger strikes the fret to create the note rather than strumming or picking with the other hand)

Amen to that. Another thing that gets right on my tits. Stand up Steve bloody Wright and Simon flipping Mayo to name but two. It's almost like a challenge for them to talk right up to the point where the singing starts....now theres a talent.....not.

Obviously there is a knowledgable classic rock fan base on the site

P.S thanks for posting the acoustic Sweet Child too, it was, er, sweet.

Sounds like you play too? I guess playing an acoustic makes you appreciate it more.

I have an amp that goes up to 11 mate ive got no real talent just like to learn and play a few licks and riffs mostly old school rock n metal.
Acoustic is soooooo much harder unless people have tried it they will never understand so its electric only for me

Same here. Been digital for a few years now and Planet Rock is definitely one of the best. I find the longer I was listening to Steve Wright, the more angry I was getting. Come 5PM I was ready to kill someone on a daily basis. Just saw the Slash show on the BBC web site, listened on the internet.

Top tip for those with an iPhone or similar and an input jack to your car stereo. Put planet rock on your phone and wire it into your car. I've been working in London a lot recently and the 3G signal is good enough down there to minimise interruptions. Most town centres should have a good enough signal now a days.
