Ignore the title. "Easy way" my arse.
Id say competent trail riders route.
Routes a good one, loads of fantastic trails on the way (and way back). Some tricky stuff (optional road route for the chickens) but nothing major to worry about.
Hope everyone likes deep river crossings as the Car Wash is en-route. And there are several waist deep puddles along the way for those so inlcined. (so thats neck deep for Nibby)
Well was hoping for an easy one
Cheers Mike

Sorry Minky, the Sarn Helen is on the route.....BUT not the Southern section in south Wales. The Northern section near Betws-y-coed is a lot more bike friendly.
Just to re-iterate, this ride is from Llangollen to Betws-y-coed (or Capel Curig to be more precise) and then back again the following day.
We will be staying in the hostel at Capel Curig (so if you have a problem sharing then let us know - 6 or 8 berth rooms) so me and Nick will be bugging (double checking) with all riders before we book accomodation.

hello Mike,
was speaking with NDC over pms.
I am in, but weather is a player for me - to go from london on knobbies, mean that I would reach wales on slicks, so only dual purpose tyres are an option for me. I am not really worried about the accomodation

Hello V_King,
dual purpose tyres - which ones (not that it matters as long as they are not 100% road tyres). It all depends on your trail riding experience. Ive done all the trails on dual sport tyres, K60's front and rear. Although it all depends on the weather. I struggled in the wet on these tyres. I know run knobblies but understand your journey from London would be hard on the knobblies. I definately would not recommend road based tyres on these trails, dual sport should be OK (pray for dry!)
So, its down to you and your experience. The trails are a mix of every type of surface. Grass, ruts, mud, forest, moorland, rocks etc etc.
If you are bored check out these posts. All of the pics are of the trails in North Wales.
Come along, if the going gets too much then the A5 is never far away which leads straight into Betws-y-coed.
