I thought the spaghetti westerns were filmed about 20 miles north of Almeria, in the Tabernas Desert. Or at least they were when I visited the place in the late 70's

I've been there last year. I rode around a big off road loop which was pretty tame but with beautiful scenery. I'm sure there's loads of trails to be found there.

Cheers Dylan,

now I`m really excited and I`ve gotta really see this place so I`m deff call here after the Spanish meet..

How easy were the trails to find ? just a map or sat nav required.

Any reccomendations for a campsite near by so we aint hauling the panniers around etc, so the sandy sections are a bit easier. Not that I`ve ridden in sand before

Went across it this year will report on it on my trip write up 3/9/11 france/spain trip.
Going across on a road bike was okay the main trail was not too bad, just very hot and dry.
Spanish airforce use it for prative so a few very low flying jets praticing bombing raids.

Re: Bardenas Reales national park 2 years, 9 months ago #73714

might be wrong but my understanding was that the main dirt roads were all you are allowed on... it is a national park after all.. still worth a visit if you're passing through
