My original plan was to have a long days ride to get my Dartmoor and Exmoor pics.
Mentioned this to a few pals, a new plan was made for a weekend ride down with an overnight at Porlock.
I know the area quite well from my trialriding days, but had'nt been down that way for a while.
We met up at 9.00am near Evesham, well, three of us did, last one turned up half an hour late.
Rode out through Cheltenham then on to Stroud, past BVM and found a great snack van....

Bought one of their £5 brekkie specials each, too much for me I'm afraid.

Nice friendly ladies though, watch the birdie.

Enjoyed some great roads, then stopped for a smoke by this nature reserve.

First time I've ever rode through Chedder, never realised how fantastic it is.
This is where I was "spotted" by Womble, can't go anywhere now we're all ABR's.

Stopped off in Watchet for a local cider, nice pub.

After a very pleasant night spent in Porlock, beers were consumed.
We set off down to Porlock Weir, then took the old toll road, this is a great lane to ride and just gets better with time.

Through Lynmouth, beautiful unspoiled resort and allways worth a stop.
Carried on to the Valley of Rocks, the road through here and back out has to be ridden to understand just how good it is.

Shame the cafe is'nt open yet.

Now it was time to set the satnag to take us to Dartmoor, shortest setting is good fun and took us down miles of lanes like this...........

The riding across Dartmoor could'nt have been better, amazing the difference sunshine makes is'nt it?

Got the Dartmoor pics then realised we'ed spent a bit too much time playing in the lanes.
A quick blast back across the moor to Dulverton for my Exmoor pic and back to Porlock for a second night havin a few beers with pals.
Unfortunately one of my pals took a bit sickly, so we decided to run straight back home this morning instead of "doing" the south Wales rally sites.
Never mind, an excuse for another ride soon.

Nice write up and pix TT, nothing better than a ride out and a couple of beers with friends.
Life is one big banana skin, sometimes when we slip we hit our butts on the hard floor of life, and on others it's a feather mattress; the adventure is the free fall in between.

A bad day on the bike is still better than a good day at the office!

That would have been a plan, but once the others got involved it all became complicated.

But as I'd almost forgotten how good you have it down there another trip is planned for later in the year with SWMBO.

Maybe I could have a weekend membership to the SW group?

Sure, why not? Plenty of campsites down our way - I'm quite inclined to spend a weekend in cornwall, and another in wales this summer.

Perhaps some sort of ABR meet is in order?
