I post up a ride report called "The Hitler Tour"
7 of us are going to;
Reichswald Forest War Cemetery - Colditz - The Eagles Nest - Dachau concentration camp

My second cousin is buried in a Commonwealth War Grave at the first stop, and the others, we just want to see. Someone christened it the Hitler Tour and the name stuck.
We're also visiting Wank, Fucking & Cunter...just for a photo by the signs.

Anyway, if someone get the Arse because of the title, it's unintentional.

I defy anyone of you not to shed a tear when you read the book of rememberance at the war cemetery. Last visited one near the border with Holland (can't remember the name, but it was in a huge forest) and the writings left by those that had lost comrades during the fighting broke me.

Safe trip - looking forward to the photo call on your return.

I've always visited WW1 & WW2 sites when on the continent I visited Dachau 2 years ago & found it very moving a guy in the club I drink in said he couldn't understand anyone visiting the concentration camp sites I replied everyone should go & then they would realise what man is capable of doing to his fellow man.

Nope no complaints here.
Went to Auschwitz and Auschwitz-Birkenau a few years back. I moving experience. As has already been said, I defy anyone visiting these places not to be moved.
I agree with previous poster on his visit to Dachau. Makes you realise what man is capable of.

I went to Belson Bergan camp, when posted to Germany our CO took the whole Regiment, for the day.

Have a good trip with plenty of pics, done a lot of those places and more myself no offense here, The offense is if we forget them.

No offense here, Just wish I could go with you. Planning to take the wife and kids to Auschwitz next year. Life is too PC these days anyway.

I was at Auswitz last year and saw a wreath with German flag ribboning on it. The Germans are as sorry as the rest of us (and embarrassed). It was only a few bad men with power and influence that have blighted the whole nation.

The Germans are extremely nice friendly people. Enjoy your trip.

I'll probably be visiting Reichswald (again) in about 3 weeks to take some new photos of my uncles grave for my mother. She's not been since soon after it opened and said that apart from seeing her brothers grave the thing that stuck in her mind the most was that all the trees in the forest were stripped by gunfire and the whole area was devastated. Apparently when the first visitors started to arrive from the UK the locals used to have a tea wagon by the entrance and offered drinks to the visitors then took them to the relevant grave because finding the exact location of them wasn't as easy back then.

Was your 2nd cousin in the RAF or was he Airborne Infantry? The majority are aircrew but the right hand side as you look directly at the site from the entrance has a large number of Airborne infantry graves which is how my uncle ended up there.

No offence here too. I went the eagles nest a few years back. You have got to do the trip on the coach to the top. Apart from the fabulous views it's kin weird when you go up in the lift knowing who has been in it too.Have a great trip and as said before....plenty of pics please
